Our Favourite Eats!

Whilst visiting the snowy mountains we recommend having a bite to eat in one or several of our favourite food venues.

 

Birchwood Cafe:
Open for breakfast and lunch 7 days a week.
They have a seasonal, fresh wholesome menu with gluten-free and vegan options. Everything is made from scratch, no fast food found here. Great coffee and sweet treats- their Persian love cake is simply divine.

Wild Brumby Distillery – A destination unto itself

10 minutes away along the Alpine way you will find award-winning schnapps and gin tastings and a cafe with an eclectic interior full of contemporary art with hearty Austrian inspired fare or sit outside and soak up the stunning scenery.

Alpine Larder – Lake Crackenback Resort
Situated 15-20 min drive along the alpine way
Open daily 10am – 8:30pm
Cosy rustic cafe with a huge fireplace for winter months and a gorgeous outdoor area to sit on a warm day. They serve wood-fired pizza, hearty pasta, tapas and gourmet salads, the menu changes seasonally, They are licensed and serve good coffee.

We recommend making a day of it in the summer months, the entire resort is surrounded by sensational walking tracks, encompassing the lake, Thredbo river and historic Bullocks Hut.

Mountain Bike Mecca – Try the 19 km Thredbo valley track all the way to Thredbo – bike hire is available. 

The resort is also a good option in spring & winter if you are looking for beautiful alpine walks & lunch. They also provide archery, trampolines, canoes, 9 hole disc golf, low ropes course and provide Segway and river sled tours. (Seasonal) 

 

Bacco Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria

Alacarte dining, pizzeria and takeaway pizza & pasta. 

Bacco’s food has been consistently good for the last 30 years and has been rewarded by being added to trip advisors hall of fame. It has casual pizza or a lovely alacarte option, it is cosy, family friendly and a menu that caters to everyone.

Don’t forget to book they are always busy.
We can’t get past their pizza with homemade bases. They don’t deliver do order your takeaway early.

Cafe Darya

This is a wonderful restaurant however booking is a must the entire restaurant seats only 20 people, it is BYO & cash only.

For over 20 years, Cafe Darya has provided a unique eating experience serving traditional Persian dishes that come from an ancient and rich cuisine, full of beautiful spices and flavours. It is a husband and wife team where everything is cooked from scratch.

Good hearty stews, warm olives and goat’s cheese & our favourite to finish homemade Turkish delight, pash mac & strong Turkish coffee. Don’t forget to bring along your bottle of full-bodied red it will perfectly complement the food.

Ela Messa

Authentic Mediterranean food right in the heart of Jindabyne. 

The restaurant has a lovely feel and a huge open fire. It’s also a large venue which can accommodate large groups. A fully licensed bar also makes it a nice spot to have a quiet glass and a nibble around the fire. 

We love the ambience in this restaurant and their good seasonal menu. They also have good wood-fired pizza to take away, no delivery so order early.

Cocina Mexican Grill & Cantina
Thursday- Sunday from 5:30pm

Fantastic Mexican tapas and all your regular Mexican food you love and know. This restaurant ticks all the boxes, it has a great outdoor seating area for the summer months, a cosy warm burning log fire and atmosphere in the cooler months. Perfect for families with heaps of easy options for the littlies. But the best kept secret is there Agave cocktail bar tucked away in a little lofted area at the back of the restaurant.

A simply stunning restaurant with a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere to complement our stunning surroundings. The food is generous, French farmhouse style cuisine, cooked with love.

Squires bar/bistro or Embers Restaurant 

This is a lovely option in summer for a quiet outdoor beer garden or an indoor quiet wine over happy hour relaxing on the lounge. 

The food in the restaurant is decent, the bar & bistro often have event nights on during winter, good family venue.

The food is good, the venue is large, they have Jindabyne’s only indoor playground (it’s huge) They have a courtesy bus. What more could a family want??

Local boy brews really great beer, has a dream, fulfills his dream to open a brewery, becomes the go to place in Jindabyne.

This is a tucked away bar with a good atmosphere, and a nice outdoor area on a summer’s evening, it has a good selection of burgers. Not really a kid sort of place!!
